VHAC & VCSQI Announce Finalized Cardiogenic Shock Protocol

We are proud to announce the release of the Virginia Statewide Cardiogenic Shock Protocol, officially approved on August 5, 2025, by the VHAC Shock Workgroup in collaboration with the Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative (VCSQI).
This protocol standardizes the approach to identifying, activating, and managing cardiogenic shock across healthcare settings.
About the VHAC Shock Workgroup
This protocol was developed by the VHAC Shock Workgroup, a multidisciplinary team of clinical and operational experts from leading healthcare institutions and systems across the Commonwealth of Virginia. With representation from cardiology, emergency medicine, EMS, nursing, and healthcare quality, the Workgroup is committed to improving early recognition, coordinated response, and survival outcomes in cardiogenic shock through evidence-based collaboration and practical tools.
