Help Us Better Understand STEMI Transfer & Thrombolytic Practices Across Virginia

Timely recognition, treatment, and transfer are critical for patients experiencing a STEMI. Across Virginia, hospitals and EMS systems work every day to move patients through complex systems of care as quickly and safely as possible. But we also know that transfer processes, available resources, local protocols, and barriers can look very different from one community to another.

The Virginia Heart Attack Coalition (VHAC) Thrombolytics Workgroup is conducting a brief statewide survey to better understand current STEMI transfer and thrombolytic practices across Virginia.

This survey is an important step in helping VHAC develop a clearer picture of how patients move through the STEMI system of care, where delays may occur, and what challenges hospitals and facilities are experiencing when making decisions about transfer and thrombolytic treatment.

The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. VHAC asks that each hospital or facility submit one coordinated response.

To help ensure an accurate statewide picture, VHAC is requesting one completed response per hospital or facility. Members are encouraged to coordinate internally and identify the individual who is best positioned to provide information about their organization’s current STEMI transfer and thrombolytic practices.

Whether your organization frequently transfers STEMI patients, receives transferred patients, administers thrombolytics, or encounters challenges related to timing and access, your perspective is valuable.
